Imagine relaxing next to a large lake (see actual photos of lake above), hiking some trails, waking up to the
smell of a campfire and coffee brewing. Picture the spring colors in the flowers and the fresh spring air.
Think about eating wonderful food, laughing, and most importantly, doing all this with recovering people!
Some will share their stories, their favorite resources, and their program tools. Some will come only for
Saturday night's covered dish potluck supper and the meeting, others will stay the entire weekend. No
matter how long you stay it will be a marvelous time for 12-stepping.
This camping trip is for all recovering people and their families (and pets). There will be a meeting each night
and Saturday discussion groups. Saturday night is usually a speaker meeting.
If you don't have gear or have never been camping, let go and come along. All you really need will be some
warm clothes and personal items, a bath towel, a sleeping bag or warm blankets, a pillow, rain gear, flashlight,
a bed in someone’s tent or camper, money to help pay for the ‘reserved recovery sites,’ and a lawn chair
(actually, you can even skip the lawn chair if you want!).
Your cost might be about $10/person for the entire weekend. We can only put two "rigs" (one
popup + one tent, or 2 tents) on a site with a maximum of 6 people/site. Some
may wish to share their tent/camper with others, reducing the cost. If coming
for Saturday night's meal/meeting only, bring a drink and any kind of covered
dish - picnic type preferred. Plates & utensils provided.
Kerr Lake State Recreation Area (which contains Hibernia Campground) is
located just north of Henderson, NC. We have reserved 4 campsites at
Hibernia in area #2: sites #81, #82 (a double), and #85. You can stay with us, or reserve (and pay for) your
own site. From I-85, take exit 214 on to road NC 39. Travel approximately 12.5 miles and turn right onto

Remember that this trip is open to anyone in any 12-Step Recovery program, plus family members, significant
others, friends, and pets (if in a cage or on a leash). Feel free to share this information with others in
